Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks are a pervasive threat in today’s digital landscape, often targeting online services, web applications and game servers. These attacks, carried out by malicious individuals or organized groups, aim to make these services unavailable to legitimate users, resulting in financial losses, reputational damage and disruption for end-users. We explore the indirect implications of these attacks on targeted software, and look at strategies developers can adopt to strengthen the resilience of their systems.
